Our Curriculum

At Happy Flower Daycare we strongly believe children learn by playing and thriving in a mixture of child-led and teacher-led activities. We understand that small children are not meant to sit still for long periods of time, and also should not be expected to surpass their natural development limits.

While giving our students plenty of time to freely play and explore their surroundings the majority of each day, we also like to provide learning opportunities through fun themes containing stories, songs, dance, art, and more. This keeps both students and teachers freshly engaged and develops skills that promote kindergarten readiness while still allowing kids to be kids.

Our Pre-Kindergarten classes will be given learning opportunities using the Mother Goose Time curriculum, which is aligned with Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, remains fun, and a positive way to present information to and encourage learning from young children. This implementation of this curriculum will be overseen and supplemented by an employee with a bachelor’s degree in education or child development. This will allow the curriculum to be individualized for the students in our center and ensure we are providing a language-rich environment. younger classes will also enjoy monthly themes with developmentally appropriate activities selected for them.

Classrooms

Happy Flower Daycare provides care for children ages 6 weeks through 12. The center is divided into 5 classrooms. We have 1 infant room which cares for infants 6 weeks to 18 months. In the infant room, the ratio is 1:5 or 2:10. Next, we have our 2 toddler rooms; one is the Wobble Room for ages 18 months to 24 months. The ratio is 1:8 or 2:14. The Toddler room is for ages 24-36 months and 1:11 or 2:14. We also have 2 preschool programs; Early Pre-Kindergarten is designed for 3 to 4-year-olds. This classroom introduces a more structured preschool environment. The ratio is 1:15. Our Preschool class is designed for our 4 to 6 yrs. old. This class continues to offer a structured preschool program including pre-writing, pre-reading, and pre-math skills, as well as large and fine motor activities. The ages assigned to these groups are approximate. We recognize that children develop at different rates, and use these ages only as a guideline.
